Finding inexpensive accessories & today's outfit

I think that half the fun of accessorizing is finding really cool accessories that are inexpensive. Yesterday, I went to Forever21. I don't go there for the clothes, but sometimes they do have some inexpensive, trendy accessories. I bought 4 necklaces for $20.00.  Compared to buying 4 necklaces at Chico's (where I love the jewelry) this is a really good deal.

Birds of all kinds (and feathers) seem to be trendy right now. I bought an enamel bird necklace and one with some feathers.

I also buy necklaces with the intention of restyling them. One of the necklaces I purchased has a silver metal and turquoise type stone. I want to add beads and give it a more substantial look. The folded glasses pendant I will most likely layer with something else. It was just cute and only $2.90.

Today it was really, really hot (104 degrees) so I wasn't dressed as cool as what I should have been. I had lunch with a friend then went for a really nice pedicure. I don't like to go out without something covering my arms, thus the jacket. It is comfortable when you are in an air conditioned building or car, but not so much outside.

I styled two different necklaces with the outfit. All other accessories are the same.

Letting go of my work wardrobe

Since I retired, I no longer need many of the clothes I used to wear to work. I am having a very, very hard time letting go of anything! I have entirely too many clothes, some I haven't worn in a couple of years. Yet I just cannot get rid of them. I have hung some that I "might" get rid of on a rack. Every time I go by it, I think of outfits to create, then they go back in the closet and still do not get worn.

What is wrong with me? Why do I have such a hard time letting go of clothes I do not need or wear? I am sure it must be some deep seated psychological issue that I have yet to figure out.

I have been packing up some things to get them out of the way and out of my sight. I think that if I do not see them at all for a while it will not be so hard to let go.

Even if I were to lose enough weight to make them unwearable, I would probably still want to keep everything "just in case."

Anyone else have trouble getting rid of clothing and shoes?

My first blog

This is my very first blog and let me say I am a bit apprehensive. I read a lot of fashion and weight loss blogs and see that some bloggers have faced criticism. It is a bit scary to put oneself out here for everyone to see. But, since this is visible Monday, I am going to take a chance.  I got the name of my blog from a very nice lady I used to work with named Sherry. She made a remark one day that I always accessorized well, thus the name of my blog.

I don't have a really good camera to use for self-portraits and rarely have anyone to take the photos of me in my outfits. So, mostly, I will take Polyvore type layouts, which I think will give me a better opportunity to actually do some accessorizing examples.

About Me: I am well over 50 and plus size. I carry my weight mostly in my middle. It wasn't always that way, but after developing asthma as an adult and taking steroids multiple times, my weight started going up and around.  I am a breast cancer survivor and had a bilateral mastectomy in 2002. I chose not to have reconstruction, which I do not regret. It does cause me to have a lot more difficulty in finding tops and jackets. If you are plus sized, manufacturers think you have large breasts. Princess seams look great on large busts, but awful on someone with a concave chest.

When I put this outfit on, I thought I looked pretty nice. In looking at the photo, I decided it was not the best look for me as it puts much too much emphasis on the middle that I am trying to disguise. Nevertheless, I do think the look is pretty.
