The comment really did not bother me that much; I knew that as a blogger I should expect it to happen someday. It was almost laughable especially when the person said that every New Yorker makes fun of us "mainlanders" who are "obese and badly dressed," and then stated "Go to Chicago and eat a fattening meal and wear your flip flops or those dreadful shoes you have on in the pic." The really, really funny thing about the "dreadful shoes" is that they were my Pencey leopard booties that are also worn by "thecoveted" blogger, Jennine Jacob, who is a New Yorker.
Now to change the subject, today's outfit is fairly simple and quite comfortable. The necklace I got at least three compliments on--two from sales associates at a very high end Wichita store.

I am glad you were able to take the negative post in stride and also that one of your devoted followers stood up for you! The jacket looks great! some day I just want to go into Chicos and window shop!
ReplyDeleteOMG Debbie LOVE that necklace. And You've made it girl! LOL! Anonymous doen't just pick on anybody ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks soooo much for all of your support. it means the world to me!!!
Hugs,
Reva
Reva's got it right - you've been noticed now, b/c your blog is so terrific! Begone, silly anonymous commenter.
ReplyDeleteLove that jacket soooo much.
Love that necklace! wow!
ReplyDeleteand kudos to you for rising above--not worth the energy otherwise!
Love love LOVE the outfit!! And even tho I'm posting as anon~ rest assured us Virginia girls practice southern hospitality :). Debbi, I'm still after your Chicos anniversary necklace on eBay :)
ReplyDeleteThat's some necklace!
ReplyDeleteI spent the weekend in New York seeing my sons new apartment. Believe me - there is no shortage of poorly dressed people who've spent a small fortune on their sorry looks, who look like they could miss a few meals and not notice it.
It's interesting when things photograph differently than they appear.
How super-uncool of Anon. But go you for reacting well. I think you're an impeccably dressed lady, and wow that's a fab necklace. Leather jackets are the best.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear that you had some negative comments...
ReplyDeleteunfortunately it is going around.
The good news is that you've got a great and supportive following :)
In a recent post comment on my blog someone said get friendly with your delete key!
Keep on blogging...
First...I love the jacket and the necklace. I think you will really like the lady I am writing about tomorrow!! Debbie, those people do not know you, and though I only know you through the blogosphere, I know in your comments, I see kindness and creativity. Do not give the negative comments a second thought...it is just people with way too much time on their hands. You are such a sweet lady and I really appreciate you!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear that. I'm impressed by your positive tone, and I hope I'll be able to remember it when I inevitably field such comments. Hard to understand that mentality.
ReplyDeleteLove your OOTD -- great leather jacket and fabulous necklace.
I've had a few negative comments, too, Debbi. Funny how they are always Anonymous - they are cowards who are just out to tear down others because of their own insecurity. I greatly admire your attitude about it, and cheer you on with your other friends in the blogosphere!
ReplyDeleteI think the necklace is amazing - I would totally wear it! And you know the leather jacket is right up my alley. The pop of red shoes are just perfect.
I agree, the snarky ones always hide behind anonymity. Too funny about the shoes! You're very smart not to let the mean girls throw you off your game.
ReplyDeleteThe jacket really does look special, especially that detailing on the collar. Fun necklace too!
RIGHT ON DEB! Keep negative, Anon in perspective, in the wastbasket. Your style is inspiring! I LOVE the necklace and boots!!!!!!!! Keep on being eye candy. The world needs you!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletethat's a nasty comment, sorry to hear about it, don't sweat it, people can say what they want, think about the other lovely comments you get. I just wan to say you're a sweet lady with a nice unassuming style, continue to do what you enjoy. Lovely necklace by the way!

I'm glad I missed the negative comment the first time around, as it would have caused me such distress to see trolls being nasty to such a wonderful woman! People like that reveal their own ugliness and nothing more. Love your matter-of-fact response! You go, girl.
ReplyDeleteDebbie, I am said you had to experience that. You handled it a lot better that I would have.
ReplyDeleteI feel like we are in a club, you know, like bunco. Except everybody is invited and welcome with open arms.
To quote Bogart "Out of all the gin joints in the world you walk into this one" Out of all the thousands of blogs we all found each other!
One thing I will say is that the lovely anon had to make an effort to read several past posts to find the one with the leopard booties.....took her a while to find something to pick at!
And I personally take offense about the Chicago remark............
Debbi, You are one of the kindest and best dressed of us slightly older bloggers. I love your necklace, your shoes and u too!
ReplyDeleteThat comment was awful. I'm sorry you had to deal with it.
ReplyDeleteThe jacket is very attractive and I always like your shoe and jewelry choices. Very smart outfit today.
The detail on your jacket is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI'm worried that people are so bad in the blogosphere! Simply you should look at how many beautiful comments, you have every day in your blog comment before a coward hiding behind anonymity. You are amazing and it shows the world every day, you're above all this misery coward. I am impressed with your facility to create outfits every day more beautiful and innovative. Today ... I am left with this wonderful necklace!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it when people do that? I have gotten a couple myself. One person left a comment on my jumpsuit post that said "what is the world coming to when big girls start wearing onies!" My sister said I should have replied "what is the world coming to when a grown person can't spell ONESIE!! lol I didn't respond at all. Only fools argue with fools!! New York, Chicago, Arizona, Texas....those leopard shoes are the BOMB!!! Period! Keep on doing you. Your true followers follow because they love YOU! Any who, I love your jacket! Kiah
ReplyDeleteI haven't had to deal with that yet... NOT looking forward to it! I'm glad you are handling it so well... and the people who treat anything between NYC and LA as substandard can kiss my oversized behind!
ReplyDeleteLove that jacket
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about the hideous comment. You are so strong in how you dealt with this verbal violence. Keep blogging cause you have many followers!
