Not too long ago I was flipping through TV channels and happened to see one of the hostesses on QVC wearing a top that I fell in love with instantly. They weren't selling it at that moment, but I went on a hunt on their website to find it, which I did right about the time it was presented. I ordered the same color the hostess was wearing and I absolutely adore this top. It is very feminine and makes me feel very visible.
Top: George Simonton via QVC Jeans: Ralph Lauren via 1/2 of 1/2 store Shoes: Payless |
The sleeves have ruching as does the bottom sides of the hem. Necklace: Banana Republic |
Bracelets on left side of photo: top Noosa Amsterdam, bottom Kenneth Cole right side of photo Michele watch and Yurman bracelets |
Are any of you QVC or HSN viewers? I probably should not be because they make everything sound as if you cannot live without it and that you must buy it NOW.
I know that this top does show my plump middle, but I have decided to quit worrying about not looking perfect. When I had my mastectomy, the Doctor told me that one thing that would be an issue was how clothing fits and looks. Most plus-size women have ample bosoms which kind of disguise a bigger stomach area and allow for the wearing of belts to move the eye upwards. Since I don't have that, my middle is on full view (belts migrate up to my armpits, not a good look). I cannot say that it doesn't bother me at all, but I am trying to accept myself as I am and not focus on perfection.
I hope you all have a lovely Monday and that you will join the lovely ladies at Patti's Visible Monday link party and Momtrends Monday Mingle.
"I am trying to accept myself as I am and not focus on perfection"
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I love the sleeves on the top and the colour is wonderful on you.
I love QVC! And lady, you look fabulous, that color is beautiful on you!!
ReplyDeleteI love to hear you are not focusing on perfection -- none of us has it, anyway, and you look lovely! I adore George Simonton - his clothing and his personality. He seems like a fellow we'd enjoy having coffee with and talking about style. I think this was a great pick, Debbi! Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday.
ReplyDeleteOh Debbie, I have asthma also! I am a slave to ADVAIR and I know how weather changes will flair things up. Take it easy. But, you do not look like you feel bad...this color is great on you...just keep focusing on your pretty smile and forget about perfection...NONE of us have achieved that. Comparisons will rob our joy!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful reminder that style and beauty are not about perfection. Would you believe that I didn't even notice the proportions you mention when I first started reading your blog? It was only later, when you discussed the mastectomy, that I realized. My eye is always drawn to your gorgeous colors, fabulous accessories, and spirited smile.
ReplyDeleteI agree that color is awesome on you. ^_^ Great to know it rained at your area so as here in my area too.

I love that color on you Debbi. I used to be addicted to QVC and HSN back in the late 90's. I had so many easy pays going at one point my husband took away my credit card. They SELL hard (in a soft way) on those channels and you are right, they make you feel like you MUST have every item. It is hard to resist. When I decided to stop watching TV and get rid of it, I stopped watching the shopping channels too and an amazing thing happened. I stopped shopping. :-) Now I have other shopping (vintage) desires that are managed by cruising on eBay.
ReplyDeletethe blue is gorgeous on you
ReplyDeleteXo Megan
Aww, Debbi - this shirt looks amazing on you. I think the shoulder details and the color are awesome. I know it must be hard to come to terms with a change in your shape, but I guarantee we're all seeing a beautiful person who is quite fashionable.
ReplyDeleteI watched some of the shopping channels, but I've never ordered. I tend to sit on things I buy retail for a long time. I go through months of thinking about a purchase before pulling the trigger. Thrift store buys are usually my only impulse buys and even then I sometimes put things back on the rack and leave 'em behind. Occasionally scoring them on 50% off days.
i like this waterfall sleeves and the bright colour of your top! it is a perfect colour for blonde hair. debbie we are what we are and each of us makes the best of it, that is what i see each monday.
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulous. What a beautiful color on you!
ReplyDeleteThis gorgeous blue top looks beautiful on you. A really nice color that suits you well. I like it paired with these pants and flats. That necklace is very pretty also.
ReplyDeleteI'm a QVC-a-holic! lol Love that top and the color is beautiful on you! Kiah
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful color and sleeves on this blouse! From my mother's experiences, I know that women with mastectomies do have all sorts of styling challenges. I have encouraged her multiple times to come read your blog!
ReplyDeleteDebbi--you look GORGEOUS in that color blue!! The whole outfit is so flattering and defintely one I would wear (and may copy!!)
ReplyDeleteI've given up trying to hide the "menopausel pooch" It is what it is.
Hi Debbie! I'd be tempted with that top too. I love the sleeves. They're also the perfect length as I've gotten so insecure about my upper arms it seems once I hit the 50 mark. They've taken on a drastic change since then. So I'm always looking for elbow length sleeves. I know, vain of me. But I just feel better.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your asthma. My sister had it bad growing up but since she had somehow outgrown it.
Have a good week!
Hi! You look just lovely in this top and I was totally drawn to your tassle Bananna Republic necklace. It is so pretty. I appreciate your openess about your mastectomy and that trying to look perfect is so yesterday. Just so you know, Shayla of Fortyish and Fluffy, is now also using the shampoo from that site that you directed us to. I am going to buy it as well. I complimented her on her hair while we were out and she told me that she got it from your prompt on your sight. So awesome. Your hair looks shiny, healthy and adorable. dawn suitcase vignetes xo
ReplyDeleteA beautiful color on you and the ruching adds so much interest to the eye. And the flats look great with this ensemble.
ReplyDeleteI love what you had to say about perfection, which is unattainable and takes energy away from our own creativity and living life to the fullest. Your proclamation is a goal that I strive for.
Oh my gosh - we were both watching at the same time. I love his stuff, but the best items are sold in minutes, and I always take too long to decide if I really want them. The best thing about those shopping channels is that you get to see all the fashions on people who are a variety of sizes. (I don't really care how a fashion looks on a size Zero.) Those Ralph Lauren jeans are the best looking ones ever! Hope they're comfortable. And that Noosa Amsterdam bracelet is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThat top is VERY pretty and is a good color on you! the ruching (sp?) makes it look very feminine. I am glad you are not focusing on your imperfections.............we all need to do that.
ReplyDeleteIf I had had the chance I would have bought that top too - I love the colour and the sleeves! Your hair is looking great, and it has grown a lot lately, or have you changed the style?
ReplyDeleteLike Anne @ The Frump Factor, today is the first time that I notice your actual body proportions. You always wear such lovely dresses with the best jewellery, and that's what draws my attention. Well, that's if Harry isn't on the photo! In any case, you certainly know how to dress your best!
such a pretty outfit :) you look fantastic!
ReplyDeletein btw really nice blog you have here, dear. keep up the great work! maybe you'll have a look on my blog as well, if you like :))
xoxo

I adore that blue. The ruching definitely knocks this top up a notch and I can see how pretty you feel! I love how you have paired the top with these flats and trousers. And true to your blog title, your accessories tie everything together brilliantly.
ReplyDeleteEchoing others - that colour is divine on you, and those are some great jeans! I do not see "imperfections" - i.e. how our culture judges variations of size and shape when really there is not a darn thing "wrong" with any version people come in - but I do see the emerging and gorgeous confidence of a woman who is making peace with the truth of her body. Love your earrings, too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty top, and I so admire your attitude. I think we all need to be more accepting of our shapes and sizes, focussing on what we love about ourselves -- you look lovely here, and as always, you accessorize well!
ReplyDeleteThis top is lovely. Beautiful color and the ruching creates a nice effect. (My first dress had ruching on its sides and I've always been sentimental about it.)
ReplyDeleteWe all need to accept our bodies for what they are. Seeing women depressed about their shape makes me so sad. I watched my mother be needlessly unhappy for years over this.
Thank you for your sweet comment. I'm sure we'd be friends, drinking tea, if we lived nearby.
I looove those sleeves! and the color is gorgeous.
