Visible Monday - My summer go-to outfit

Another Visible Monday and another maxi dress. These are so comfortable to wear in this hellishly hot weather we have been having this summer. I don't wear them every day, but on weekends it is so easy to put on and go. The maxi has become my go to outfit. (I think it has something to do with not having anything tight around my middle. LOL!)

After seeing the pictures, I think that I would prefer a black topper over the white. I have one, but it required ironing and I didn't want to take the time to drag out the ironing implements. I just realized that I haven't ironed anything since I retired. When I went to work every day, I ironed almost every morning to keep my outfits crisp looking.  I don't miss work and I don't miss ironing.  Do any of you iron a lot or  do you prefer fabrics that don't require ironing?

Jacket: Consignment Store
Maxi: Chico's
Sandals: Think!
I accessorized with a flower in my hair, a necklace and just a couple of bracelets.

Chico's necklace and bracelet on left side of picture.
Right side: Michele watch and Yurman bracelet
What do you think of wearing a flower in your hair? I liked mine until I saw the pictures and now I'm not so sure about it. I did get a compliment from the checker at the grocery store, which was nice. I think maybe it's just a bit large, or maybe I'm just not used to hair adornments.

By the way, I changed the font size on this post to a larger size. Should I keep it this size or go back to the default font?

Thank you so much for joining me on this Visible Monday with Patti at Not Dead Yet Style and Monday Mingle post. Don't let us have all the fun, please join us in these fun link-ups that showcase such fantastic style!

  1. I have some pieces that need ironing but it's quite rare that I wear them. Even my husband has to iron his own shirts... I used to do them for him but after 10 years told him I would no longer do it. He likes 100% cotton and they are a lot of work. I like the larger font. Did you go into the designer to enlarge it?

Great fabric on the dress! So bright and happy for a Monday!

  5. LOVE LOVE LOVE the dress!!! That would work with your denim shirt topper or jecket, too!!
Love the flower-I think i need some for my hair!
I iron when needed. My crazy sister irons as a HOBBY!! She irons the sheets and she irons my brother-in-laws boxer shorts cuz he like them "crisp"
    She's NUTS!!
    Have a great day!

  9. Some dresses, like this one, cry out for a big flower in your hair! It's beautiful. The checkout girl saw what I'm seeing here. I don't like ironing and I save up my ironable laundry so I can do it all in one go. Once I'm into ironing, it's very hypnotic, almost restful - but that doesn't make it okay. Snoozing is also restful! I think this is my favourite maxi on you so far.

  10. You look so cute!! I love the flower in your hair and these colors are wonderful for you! My husband does his own ironing. Most of my garments I can toss in the dryer to freshen up and if I am really picky then I send them to dry cleaning. But that is rare. You look perfect for an August day!

  11. This maxi is so beautiful - I love the colours and the pattern, and how your bracelet seems to echo both. The flower is so sweet, and I've been trying out the same, just like Curtise from The Secondhand Years. But my hair is so fine that I keep loosing even the small flowers so, wear one for me!

  12. your maxi dress is gorgeous! you look so pretty. when i see your foto i immediatly regret that i haven't bought one this summer. it look so easygoing and nevertheless chic.
ironing is not my favorite exercise, i only do it when it with my blouses, dresses and skirts, not with the tees or the underwear.

  14. I love headwear and so the flower in your hair is a beautiful accent to your maxi. The colors are so fresh and I think the white jacket looks great. The plants make a fabulous background!

  15. I love the flower in your hair! I think you're just not used to it. I tend to feel that way about stuff on my head (hats, scarves, etc).

I love this colorful maxi on you. The white makes a good pairing for high summer, but I think it would also look great with a darker color.

I pretty much gave up on ironing. I don't mind it, but most stuff I can just toss in the dryer for a couple minutes with a damp washrag and they come out wrinkle free. Otherwise I just embrace the wrinkles and go on with my day.

  16. I must be getting old - I like the larger font! I changed to bigger pictures in my posts some time ago and I really like it. These old eyes...

Love the dress, the flower in the hair, and the white top with it. I loathe ironing. Ugh.

  17. The flower is cute with that dress.

There is a lady at church that wears flowers and ribbons in her hair. She's very nice, but sitting behind her on Sunday I have come to think that a little goes a long way.

I go to work so I iron. The problem with blouses or skirts that need ironing is that they sit in the laundry room an extra few days until I get them ironed so they aren't the most efficient wardrobe items. In this heat I really think things need to be washed every time I wear them.

  18. Yay to the bigger font - it's easy on the eyes. So are you, I love the bright maxi dress. And no, I don't iron much, maybe three or four times a year : > I avoid woven cottons unless they're the "wrinkle resistant" variety. Thanks so much for linking up to VM!

  19. Great dress! I wish I could find one like that. It's so colorful. Black would look nice with that dress too. Or even a little denim jacket when the weather gets cooler.

I like the bigger font because I don't like having to put my readers on when I read blogs ;)

  20. That dress is gorgeous! Maxi dresses are definitely the way to go in the summer.

I hate ironing, too. I have a bunch of clothes that are super cute, but would require me to iron them before I wear them, so I just never wear them. I really should just get rid of them. Or bite the bullet and take some time to iron them. Instead, they will probably just sit in my closet, unworn, indefinitely :)

  21. I haven't worn any flowers in my hair for a while, but I do admire it on bloggers I've seen wear them (Desiree?). This maxi is gorgeous and I'll bet you're right that the black would look great with it, but I'm like you and iron as little as possible.

  22. Such pretty colors in this maxi dress and flower for your hair. I like them both.
I probably iron a few pieces once a week or so, but I don't enjoy it. Was cracking up over Menopauselsupermodel's comment about her crazy sister. haha
I do also like the larger font. I use a larger size on my blog too. Even though it takes up more space it is easier to read.

  23. What beautiful fabric in your dress! As a matter of fact I'm wearing a maxi dress right now and wish I could wear it to bed for pj's but since it's a tube top on top I'm afraid it would fall down and end up twisted around my waist. ;) I was just telling my hubby that I would love to have 10 of these breezy dresses if I could sew them myself and go pick the perfect fabric.

I hardly ever iron but when something needs it I will pull out the old board. I recently bought some sheets that make me so mad because when I pull them out of the drier the pillowcases are so wrinkled they look like I pulled them from a garbage can. LOL

I use to wear a flower in my hair often back in the 70's. I may try it again! thanks for the idea. ;)

  24. I like the flower and the maxi! About ironing -- I think I'm in a minority here. I have an ironing board permanently set up in the walk-in closet. I use a white handkerchief to protect the fabric as I iron. I touch up nearly everything I wear to work, and most of the time I iron my shorts and t-shirts for weekends. I was in the Army, and that's all I have to say about that.

  25. You look lovely in dresses - and the flower in your hair looks so cheerful that no wonder you got a compliment.

  26. I am a huge fan of the flower in the hair, and I think it suits you. I like to wear one with my hair pulled back into a low ponytail or bun. Love you in the orange and turquoise accents. You live up to your blog's namesake and then some.

  27. I love the flower in your hair too. I spontaneously put one in mine when I wore a floral number and felt all hula hula. Your pix with the jewelry is great, with hands crossed over chest it looks like a ritual goddess pose. Way to go, girl.

  28. My dear i love the ironing topic. i don;t iron...won't iron. My husband does...and a perfect job every time. My boys grew up thinking an iron was actually a power tool!

  29. OOOHH! I NEED a pretty go to outfit like that! I absolutely love it and you look so pretty!! I think this weekend I need to go shopping. I would love a dress like that in pink -
Thank you so much for your comment about my book!

  30. I think you look CUTE! I smiled big when I saw you! I love my style bloggers, they make me so happy! And that Michele watch... I just bought one this past week! I have needed a new watch for 4 years and when I found the Michele watch and all those changeable watch bands, I went nuts! Have a beautiful day Debbi! :-)

  31. I like the big flower in your hair. I also use a bigger font, to make my blog easier to read.

  32. LOL! I have that same necklace from Chico's. At the time that I bought it, we had a real gecko (leopard gecko) in the house.

  33. That is a great Maxi-dress. I am impressed that when it gets hot you pull out the Maxi's and make the best of it. As to the ironing question, my husband does some. But when his uncle died, we inherited his fancy German laundry pair. We never used the washer since we would need an electrician to convert the wall socket for it, but when our dryer quit, we hooked up his uncle's dryer. It is almost magic how smooth and crisp all the clothes come out. (But it is awful to listen to!) Bosch, I think, and about 20 years old.
