Visible Monday

I so enjoy Monday's now. Part of it is that I don't have to get up and go to work and part is that I get to be inspired by all the beautiful women who take part in Visible Monday and Monday Mingle. So many of you all inspire me in different ways. Some are uplifting, some creative, some thrifty, and all are stylish. What better way could there be to start a week?

Today I am wearing yet another maxi dress. You have seen the dress before, but I chose to wear a different jacket with it this time. I received several compliments on it and a couple of people asked me where I was going, as if one only dresses nicely to go somewhere special.  Have you ever experienced receiving remarks such as that?

I have a funny Harry story to share with you. Earlier in the morning, my husband said we would take my outfit photos after we went out to eat. When we returned home, we gave out dog biscuits as usual. Then when I went to put on some lipstick, Harry started getting excited and running to the back bedroom where we keep the tripod for the camera. I asked him what he wanted and he kept running to the bedroom and looked at me and gave me the "this was what I want look". I wasn't sure he would repeat it, but when I went to tell my husband about it, Harry again started running back to the bedroom for the tripod. Normally, this behaviour is reserved for showing me where his dog biscuits are when he wants me to give them to him. (He is sure that I have forgotten where I keep them.) He is so funny! Then, when we wanted him to sit down for a picture, he wanted to play ball and not take pictures. What a dog!

Come on and throw the darn ball!
I hope you will all join me for Visible Monday and Monday Mingle.

P.S. Tomorrow is the day the September Vogue magazine will be available. I know I love looking at the huge September issue even if there is not one thing in it that I can afford to buy. Are you anticipating the release?

  1. I'll buy the Vogue to see what's new as I need to add a few items to my back to school work wardrobe. They will not be haute couture though as the students love to run and hug me often during the day...
paint or food is never far away!

I think your dog wanted that photo shoot to happen tout suite!

  2. Oh, Harry - you are so smart and so you have to be so cute too????

Love your maxi and jacket, Debbi. Polished yet comfortable. I do enjoy the September Vogue issue, mostly for fantasy, like you : > Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday.

  3. Love your outfit! And I have been missing the brown-black combination. I have avoided black for a couple of years now, and I think I am beginning to miss it. I think I can get away with it if I smother it with brown, and animal print ties them both together so well. I think you've inspired me!

  4. it is so cute your black maxi dress, especially with the embroidery! i also sometimes smile about people asking me whether i'm dressed for a special event, when i'm only wearing my usual clothes and i take it as a compliment. on summer sale i tried to find a black piece, a jumpsuit or a dress, but did not find something acceptable.

  5. Aww - the joy of dogs - each has their own personality! Great outfit - black and leopard is a classic combination. I usually get "what are you so dressed up for? we are only going to (insert pub/friend's house/dinner)"

  8. He's sweet. He must know that camera time is a good time to clown around.
I enjoy reading the September issue. We're going away for Labor Day and it'll be fun to read it while I'm relaxing.

  9. The maxi dress is great! Isn't it too bad there are people who don't seem to want to look nice?

Your puppy is adorable! (like Ivan) Harry steals the photo shoot! Have a great week! -Marci

  10. Looks like you officially have a blog assistant!! I always love all of the fashion magazines in fall...it is my favorite seasonal roll out! Thanks for the heads up about the release date for Vogue. I haven't finished InStyle yet! Your maxi dress is a great look for you!

  11. Since I only dress up to go someplace special, it's logical that I would be asked that, but you usually wear nice clothes. Your dog cracks me up! That is a great story.

  12. Harry is so smart. He wanted to be in the pics, but he wanted them to be action shots. :-) Animal print is such a great neutral, you will be able to work that in many outfits. I so enjoy Monday's too Debbi. :-)

  13. I picked up my copy of Vogue today and it is thicker than it's ever been though I've yet to crack the cover (delaying gratification). It's good to dress up, whatever the occasion. And Harry perhaps thinks you are running a pet blog and is feeling particularly lovely today.

Loving your maxi and jacket! I have a similar one in black that I love.

  15. Awww how sweet! It reminds me of Spike (our oldest cat) who will attempt to chew the electric can opener when we're fixing their dinner. It makes Rrrr noises. The best part is their food cans are pop-tops! and always have been.

Love the leopard print jacket, very classic. People used to give me those comments a lot, especially when I first started wearing skirts, dresses, and heels. Just keep rockin' your style, Debbi.

  16. Harry is just too cute!!
I adore the leopard jacket!!! Maxi's are the best thing since sliced bread--so easy to wear and yet you look so pulled together!! I LOVE yours--you could definitely put on a long sleeve black T and boots and wear it in cooler weather!!

  17. You look very smart dressed in that outfit. The red sandals are a great touch of color with it. I love going over to Patti's Not Dead Yet Style every Monday too. It's part of my routine now.

  18. Even Harry is getting in on Visible Monday! Just like the rest of us who participate in Patti's fabulous creation. I adore the leopard print with black, but when you ground the ensemble with the red sandals, everything sings.

  19. Debbi, I LOVE LOVE LOVE your jacket! What fun! I look forward to getting my magazines too. I flag everything, I read, I re-read, flag things again, make my wishlist, and then when I'm shopping, I look for those items or similar! Even if I cant afford the EXACT thing, there's always something similar that will work BEAUTIFULLY!

Did I mention I LOVE LOVE LOVE your jacket? TOTALLY FAB.
    XOXO

  23. I think Harry matches you jacket so well, perfect colours! He's just so adorable, I'd love to meet him!

It's such a lovely dress, and great with the jacket. And the red patent sandals would fill a huge gap in my wardrobe very nicely!

  24. So sweet! Harry is a love, and you look great! I do love the fall fashion mags, but I go through them and tear out the pages that are inspiring, separating the wheat from the chaff, so to speak.

I always get comments about my outfits, the subtext being "Where are you going?". I used to care, but now I don't. You look great and who knows? You're probably inspiring someone else.

  26. Your post is great to read. I was wondering why people have to dressed up their pet but still I have done it too.

  27. Oh, I know what you mean about the big Vogue issue. I forgot that it's that time when it comes. Thanks for the reminder. I can't afford any of it either but it always is such a nice encouragement into the next season. Which happens to be my favorite!

Harry is so cute and has a ton of personality. They keep us going, don't they? They know our every move and study us day in and day out. They probably know more about us than we do. I'm so impressed with the way dogs can be so tuned in to us.

You look great in your maxi dress with a nudge toward fall in the jacket. I wanted to purchase a few maxi dresses this summer but never had the chance. I did buy one maxi skirt though.

    See you on MOnday!
