What a Retired Boomer Wears on a Casual Day

I am always in awe of the fabulous outfits that my fellow bloggers create. There are so many with unique, elegant, quirky, artistic, or classic style that I adore seeing every day.  I am not sure that my outfit for today's Visible Monday is really even blogworthy. I have found that the longer I am retired, the less likely I am to dress to the nines. I still try to dress nicely, but my reality is much different than those of you who are still in the work force. Today's outfit illustrates that new reality. It was far too warm for a jacket (we had a record high yesterday) and we only went to the grocery store, so my fanciest accessory was a scarf.

Shirt: Lauren
Jeans: Chico;s
Shoes: Boutique 9
Scarf: Next

I did wear a scarf on my wrist as well as around my neck. I have seen several bloggers wear a wrist scarf and I decided to try it as well. I don't think I will do it again because it is too difficult to keep it dry when I wash my hands. Cute, but impractical.

No Harry photo today because he was too busy watching a squirrel to be bothered with us.

I hope you all have a wonderful week and enjoy today's linkups for Visible Monday and Monday Mingle.

  2. I really like this outfit. The scarf is a perfect touch. I have too many bracelets that I want to wear to ever have thought of a scarf around the wrist and had not noticed that trend before - you are very fashion-forward.

  3. Pretty colors that blend nicely. And scarves are always fashionable. My view on fashion is we don't need to be runway models, just individuals adding style to our normal life.

  6. I love a casual look like this, Debbi. Like Shybiker said, we are not all models, just trying to look good on a daily basis. And you look great here, love the two scarves. Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday.

  7. I just love those subtle color combinations on you Debbi, they're really attractive. And pretty fancy smancy for grocery shopping in my opinion. I mean you could've worn sweats. And the two-scarf thing seems very avant garde - including the way both are worn, tied. I'll have to try that...

  10. Aw, Debbi, I think you are always dressed so cool. Maybe not work dressy, but blogger-fab definitely. I dress up to go to the grocery store. And to class. Most people think class = yoga pants. Well boo on them.

I love your shoes! Gah, I'm always so drawn to your shoes. You have such great taste.

  11. You know my grandmother would always wear a scarf to make whatever she was wearing a little dressier even if she wasn't really "dressing up" and your two scarves in this outfit reminded me of this. Few of us, even the ones who work, really have proper occasions to get really dressed up anymore because the world has shifted to dress down mode almost everywhere. I think making that extra little effort to add these personal touches you do even when you feel that you are in casual mode is a great way to feel dressier even when you don't have to be.

  12. Nice casual outfit. I can imagine you may have felt overdressed in a scarf depending on which grocery store you frequent. I've seen plenty of nearly-pajama outfits at the grocery store!

  13. What a great "Casual Plus" outfit! I really like the way you pulled it all together with the touches of dark pink. That wrist scarf may be a bit impractical, but it's really cute -- I've got to try that. And your shoes, as always, are terrific!

  14. Your outfit is totally blog worthy; the scarf is tied at your wrist in such an interesting way. And the shoes add pizazz. Great outfit for grocery shopping, and I'm sure that you brightened the day of many in your path.

  15. You get cuter every post. Looking very like a casual lady (who understands that she is something special) on the go ... with fabulous taste as well. Youthful. Simple is sometimes best. I get the difficulty of wearing the wrist scarf all day, but it would look cute as a button out and about. BTW ... how the dickens do you tie it on your own wrist! Tutorial , please?
Yes, we're nothing next to ....SQUIRREL !!!!!

  17. I love these gentle colors together, and the shoes are a nice pop! Good call on the scarf, but I prefer it around your neck with this top... breaks up the blue.

  18. I love your grocery shopping/around the house outfit. Very pretty addition of the scarf and coordinating shoes. I like seeing a range of style blogs. You're right...average people don't dress to the nine's every day. I love getting ideas for a more "casual style" because that's how I like to dress best.

  21. I have never figured out how people get their scarves to drape gracefully around the neck and stay that way. CUTE shoes!

  25. You pulled your outfit together so nicely with your scarf. While i was in Europe i was continually struck by the artistic use of scarves. and how much style a simple scarf can convey. Well done my dear!
