A little sparkle

Dillard's had one of their "extra 30% off permanently reduced merchandise" sales this past week. I tried really hard to stay away and ended up going on the last couple of days of the sale which probably meant that there were fewer treasures for me to find, but that's okay. I still found a couple of things. One is the necklace that I am wearing today. The pictures do not begin to show how beautifully sparkly it is. I do love me some sparkle!

This outfit was inspired by an email I received from JCrew, called the art of the collar. I am sorry I do not have a full length picture. My DH is down in the back and I did not want him to have to stoop over to take pictures. My shirt is from Old Navy and the suede jacket is one I purchased many years ago at Dillard's.

I used the Lucky magazine that I just received as a background for the necklace. If you look closely, you will see that on February 13th, Lucky is having a giveaway for a Wendy Brandes necklace! Hooray for Wendy. I hope it will bring her a lot of new customers. I am going to enter that one for sure! You can go to luckymag.com/breaks to access the giveaways.

Last week RoseAG asked about whether or not I had tweaked my hair color. The answer is yes and no. I have been experimenting with some different purple shampoos which can change the tone of my hair. Purple shampoo? What the heck is that? Well, it is a shampoo that has purple color depositing toner in it that is used by blonds and women with gray hair to reduce brassy tones. If used too often, it can turn very light hair kind of purple. Hey that is okay by me as I love the pale lilac tones in hair. It has been hard to find a good one that is not perfumey and that doesn't cause a reaction on my sensitive skin. Once I find the one that works for me I will report my findings. I know a few of us are trying to go to our natural color.

    1. Lisa, I accidently posted before I had the post finished. The pictures should be there now. Also, I meant to answer you about the arrows in my back and got busy and didn't. I have an metal arrow sculpture that hangs below my Native American picture. I try to remember to take it down before we do the pics, but I don't always remember. This spot is the best one for picture taking. I wish I had a better one inside, but this is it. Paintings and arrows!

  5. Beautiful necklace! wow!
Purple shampoo? Wonder if it would help my hair from looking red & brassy?

  6. I love that necklace it is a keeper. I love purple tones as well even in hair I agree they can be quite lovely. I love gray hair as well. I hope mine grows into a lovely gray eventually. Right now my natural color just looks dingy with a scattering of 'tinsel'. i figure in a couple of years ill try going gray again.

WOW. You know I want that necklace. So lovely. So sparkly.

Hope hubby feels better. I was down in the back for the last part of last week. No fun, for sure.

  8. I've used different purple shampoos and some are better than others. I think the trick is to leave it in for the duration of your shower and then rinse it out. That necklace is really pretty. I love the shape and I can only imagine how it must sparkle! So Wendy has a Lucky Mag giveaway; very cool. As you say, I hope that her clientele keeps growing by leaps and bounds.

  9. Gorgeous necklace! I love layering a necklace under a collared shirt (when I wear them). Also how cool about the Wendy giveaway! I love Mrs Wendy B and her quirky jewelry.

  18. That is a really great necklace. Love how you place it with a collared blouse. It seems to highlight it even better than a collar-less shirt.

  19. Oh, that is a gorgeous necklace! And I remember that purple shampoo, from when my mom was still highlighting her hair, and used it all the time. (We had a bit of a rust problem with our water, as I recall.)

  20. Your secrect is safe with us!

That's a nice combination of the blouse/jacket. I often scan sale racks looks for blouses with collars that I can put underneath a jacket or sweater. An amazing number of prints/colors that you might not get too excited about on their own will look good peeking out from something else.

  22. What a fabulous necklace!

I love the faint lilac shade of your hair - so avant garde! I have been playing with the blonde lately - I'm just not ready to let my natural hair out of the bag!

  24. Really, the collar, necklace and blazer look amazing together. You are really observant and great at styling Debbi. And what a neat thing - purple shampoo. Whatever, you hair is really beautiful.

  27. I want that necklace!!!! It is the most prefect necklace I have seen in a very long time! Congratulations to a great find! I need to figure out if I can find it online!

  28. Debbi, you look younger with each post. I know you had some difficult time last year, and it's so nice to start to see your sparkle! And, I'm talking about you, not the necklace.

Now, about that necklace. I love it. And, of course, I'm all over the polka dot blouse with the red suede. Classy, but with a little fun mixed in.

  29. Debbi, thanks SO much for being my very first follower! I'm so excited!

I'm a jewelry fanatic and think that necklace purchase was an awesome find. It's just gorgeous on you! Isn't it fun to add a little sparkle to your day, especially knowing that it was an additional 30% off?

Coloring my hair at home has resulted in more than my share of purple highlights. My daughter hates it when I'm sporting those colorful streaks, but I always get a ton of compliments. Just goes to show that 22 year olds don't know everything, even if they think they do!

  31. Your last minute shopping was definitely worth it - what a beautiful necklace! I agree that your hair looks great. I have been using a toner shampoo to keep my platinum as crisp as I can. Like you, though, I like the pale lilacs and blues that can result!

  32. I love these Dillard's sales and hit them up every time! haha I bought a suit! this necklace is so pretty.

  33. OOOH! Want that necklace! I suppose it's a good thing that there is no Dillard's anywhere around here... since I have to put the kibosh on extraneous shopping until Hubby is back to work. They don't pay him to lie in bed all day and take narcotics, unfortunately....

Perhaps I should try hypnosis... "Debbie... you're getting sleepy... you hate sparkly necklaces...you feel an overwhelming compulsion top put it into a padded envelope and ship it to Lawyerdoll....

So, when should I expect my package? ;-p
