Sparkles, Spikes, and Bows

Some days I feel like being a bit edgy and today was one of those days. After I got dressed, I asked DH if he would mind taking some pictures. He told me he figured I wanted them based on the way I was dressed. What? I though most days outfits deserved photos, but I guess maybe this one was a bit more dramatic than usual (at least to him.)

This is my all time favorite denim jacket from Target. I am wearing a Talbot's top and Tribal pants. The pants have a pleather strip down the sides that adds a bit more 'edge' to them. I was wearing my Tom's glitter shoes.

I am wearing Deborah Lippman Swagga Like Us polish. I splurged on this polish because it was such a fabulous color that I could not find in any other line. It is described as a mirrored chrome and I think it is.

As you can see I did not stage these necklaces for photography. They are as worn and messy. All the necklaces are from Forever21 except for the bow with the pearl is from Ann Taylor.

I think my camera is on its last legs as it seems to get slower and not flash when appropriate. In looking at the newer point and shoot camera's I am amazed at how the price has come down and the mega pixels have gone up. For those of you who use a point and shoot does the higher mega pixel result in sharper photos?

Did you watch the Grammys last night? It is fun to see the fashion and listen to the music. The coolest dress I saw was Carrie Underwood's dress that was lighted with many different images. Wow, was that amazing. The most beautiful part was the butterflies that appeared to fly from her dress to the ceiling.

  1. Absolutely love the necklaces, what a great way to dress up the denim. You look so fun with your 'edgy' touch.

  4. So glad my hubby recorded The Grammies. I want to see the Avett Brothers and Carrie's dress!

Being a total jewelry hound, I really like the layered necklaces. F21 has awesome accessories.

  5. Love your layered necklaces as well as the very cool nail polish! I, too, was amazed by how Carrie's dress was done. Kept wondering how they did that!

  8. Hey Debbi, I totally love those layered necklaces. I have only been to F21 once, but could have stayed in the jewelry department forever. They have such fun stuff. Your nail polish is wonderful too! You are completely living up to your blog name.

  10. Believe it or not (especially since I'm married to a professional musician) I didn't see the Grammy's. The dress looks like a Disney princess dress!! I love your layered necklaces and the polish!! Very cool. I'm sure your hubby loves to see you dressed up and happy although if he's like mine, maybe not enthralled with taking a gazillion pictures. That's why I use my tripod and timer now. :-) It's a win-win.

  22. Oh husbands. Was yours giving you that sas about looking nicer on photo day while he had on pants he's been wearing for a week?

I'm on a closet purge for my husband. Anytime I see him with his hairy tummy sticking out of a shirt or pants I remember it. The next time it comes through the laundry room it goes (after washing) into the give away pile. I've decided I can improve my own look by making sure that my significant other upgrades his look :)

It's exciting to think about it being Spring soon! I'm looking forward to getting my own denim jacket out.

  23. AWESOME jacket! maybe you just had that extra pep in your step? I think you look great.

I missed the Grammys. I'm not an award show person anyway. I'm sure I'll read a round up of who the best/worst dressed were at some point though.

Also I have a 14 MP camera. It's alright, much better than my old 9MP.. but it's still no DSLR. It is a canon though.

  26. I love all your necklaces worn together with the "matching" nail polish. The whole ensemble really looks terrific. Your are a stylin' babe, Debbi.

  27. Look at you, Debbi, all stylin'(again!) What a cute look and a really appealing way to wear your silver. Really a good, highly individualized look for you. Very You. Are you still growing out your hair? It's looking so good ... and you're still glowing. Are you sure you want to get rid of the camera that captures all this cuteness?
I don't like our point and shoot much ... its one of those with the screen on front so you can see yourself. Doesn't work particularly well, but it's probably just us and our lack of enthusiasm for learning it's complexities. My next camera, if I could afford it, would be a digital SLR with and 85mm portrait lens (or near that) and a good midrange zoom By the time I can afford it, though, I'll probably be so old that I won't be physically able to style blog anymore!

  28. love your pics Debbie! love the necklaces, so edgy yes with the rest of the outfit!
What a dress, wow, no i didn't watch the Grammys -
And yes higher the pixels higher the resolution - the lens are important as well but we are talking reflex cameras like i have -
I have a Cannon power shot ELPH100HS if i need a lighter camera and i am very happy with it
The pics of my last post were taken with that camera -

    Take care

  30. Hi Debbi! I think I have the same denim jacket from target. I love it too--does it have stretch? Mine does, thats why I like it so much!

    Love the necklace~

  31. I love your layered necklaces...and your hair is really cute.
I've tried a couple of times having John take my photos, but I just feel too weird about it and self conscious. I've always hated having my photo taken. So I find it easier and less rushed to just do it myself. And I know nothing about cameras. I just use the inexpensive point and shoot we already had which is now nearly 7 years old.

  32. Dear Debbie,
this waterfall of wonderful necklaces is great! I love it and also your nice denim jacket with the little ruffles. You look fantastic.

  33. That is a great jacket. I love the bow necklace, too. Good outfit! My husband had a business trip to Wichita last month and just loved it. Said you have one of the coolest downtowns ever.

  34. Debbi, I am madly in love with your pile of pointy necklaces, especially together with that great jacket, confident pose, and fabulous smile.

I thought of you today when writing my post about my skull-motif rubber cowboy rain boots - thanks for inspiring me ponder the whys of everything!

  35. Sorry for being to terribly late Debbi, but I want to let you know that your outfit is fantastic! The denim jacket is very similar to my own beloved old one (which will stay in the closet for another few months)and the necklaces are like Aladin's cave!

  36. I really love this outfit on you, it's one of my favorites! I'm really liking the messy combination of necklaces.

I didn't see the Grammys, but that photo is lovely.
