Good morning to everyone on this special day for those of us here in the United States of America. It is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and the Inauguration of President Barack Obama.
I decided to go with some color for my outfit of the week. The title of this post is based on the fiery colors of the scarf and blouse from Coldwater Creek and the lace pattern on pants from Chico's. The jacket is from Jones New York. I certainly felt visible in the bright colors!
I spent quite a bit of time looking at different scarf tying methods and did not find this particular look. This is a variation of the loop and tuck (keep the ends the same length when looping instead of the way it's shown in the instructions shown in the link.)where instead of tightly tucking the ends through the loop I pulled them up to drape over the top of the loop. I've tried this on several scarves and I think it is a pretty variation. I think it works best on a very long scarf because the hanging pieces end up longer. I am calling this Loop, Tuck, and Drape. What do you think of it?

I think it's stunning and so is the photo! Wow. The scarf is beautiful on it's own, but the way you manipulated it and the clothes you have put together look just fabulous. Not to mention your smile. A great look, Debbi. Well done.
ReplyDeleteThe scarf is gorgeous and I love the way you tied it. I'm wondering if this scarf is still available cause I'd love to own one myself. I'll be checking their web site! Happy week to you!
ReplyDeleteJoni, it does not appear to be on the website. It was on sale for an extra 50% off. If you don't have a Coldwater Creek near you, let me know and I will check and see if the store here still has it and I can get it for you.
DeleteThe scarf looks lovely like that - such pretty colours on you!
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful scarf, Debbi, and it looks lovely how you've tied it.
ReplyDeleteThat scarf tie caught me eye instantly out of all the different photos lined up at Patti's linkup -- it's really pretty, very effective -- and it complements that outfit really well. Great shoes as well!
ReplyDeletecaught My eye, not me eye (sounds as if I'm practising for Talk Like a Pirate Day!)
DeleteI never know whether to put the scarf on top of the jacket collar or underneath it. It looks to me like you've run it underneath the collar. Does it keep the tie-part in place better?
ReplyDeleteIt really depends on the weight of the collar of a jacket. This is fairly lightweight so putting it underneath works well. If it is heavy then it ends up looking like too much weight around the neck. Also, the scarf stays in place better with fabrics that have some texture rather than slicker fabrics.
DeleteWhat a fabulous look! Your choice with the scarf was splendid, and I love the way to tied or looped it. Thank you so much for sharing this with us, I'm definitely going to try this out.
ReplyDeleteCute, cute again Debbi!! I LOVE that jacket!!!

ReplyDeleteI'll have to remember the loop & tuck method. :)
Debbie, you look fantastic in red and black! Your scarf is amazing, I love those changing colors.
ReplyDeleteLove all the red accents in this outfit, you look so happy.
ReplyDeleteDebbie, that scarf is pure perfection, and it suits you so well. I bought myself a pair of pants from Chico's last time I visited the states and I just love them. Happy inauguration day!
ReplyDeleteI think I *love* this scarf-tying, Debi - so fresh and pretty. I went out to watch the Inauguration today and felt very proud. I had no red white and blue to wear, but wore a blue and white scarf! Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday.
ReplyDeleteYou look extremely stylish, fun and relaxed in this outfit - great styling!
ReplyDeleteLovely scarf and I love the way you've tied it - the colours here are also a very sunset like palette!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your outfit!!! Great color combo for you-so vibrant!!
ReplyDeleteThe scarf is stunning and I love the new way to wear it--I'll definitely be trying that way out!!!
Beautiful scarf, Debbi. I love the way you tied it!
ReplyDeleteFabulous scarf! I was feeling the burgundy shades today too. I also love your jacket. The scarf tie is excellent. I think I've done something similar once. I just tend to fiddle with scarves until I like the way they look.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great way to tie a scarf. Beautiful colors on the fabric as well!
ReplyDeleteThat's a really cool way to tie a scarf, and it works so well to show off the colour/pattern!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty scarf! And you tied it beautifully. That's one thing I haven't learned yet: how to tie scarves this nicely. Great post.
ReplyDeleteLove the bright scarf and the way you've tied it. It kind of looks like a bow. So cool and fun. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the way you tied this--I am going to try this!
ReplyDeleteYou look nice and cheery! Hugs~
That is a gorgeous scarf, and pulls the whole outfit together! I like how you've tied it, too. Sometimes it's as simple as wrapping until it's in the place you want it to be!
ReplyDeleteAnother fabulous post title! Brilliant (and yes, firey) colors today. I love the way you've tied your scarf. I'll have to practice that one.
ReplyDeleteSUCH a gorgeous scarf, Debbi! Love those fiery hues!!!

The scarf is beautiful. The colour draws the eye to your lovely smile.
ReplyDeleteGorgeously vivid! Both pastels and these intensely saturated colours look great on you. Lovely Loop, Tuck, and Drape. :)
ReplyDeleteFirst think I thought of when seeing you in the scarf; Debbi is an hot-house orchid today! Beautiful! I'm trying to figure out a similar color set, but not doing quite so well. (Can't come out to play at VM as I'm changing out tech toys and tools and have some catch-up do do before I can use them. )
ReplyDeleteHave a great week ... and wear this outfit everywhere!
Loop, tuck and drape works for me! I think I did something pretty similar by accident then couldn't remember how I did it. Thanks,,,,,,,,,,,
ReplyDeleteMy keyboard went loopy on me and i had to restart......I also wanted to tell you how great you look in that color. Red is a happy color when it's as cold as it is right now. (at least by me)
ReplyDeletePretty, pretty scarf!
ReplyDeleteThat's a gorgeous scarf and the way you tied it is sheer artistry!
ReplyDeleteThe link to the loop and tuck didn't work, though. Would you repost? Thank you!
It should work now. Sorry!
DeleteI love that jacket on you. Great scarf - you find the best stuff.
ReplyDeleteThat scarf is the perfect accessory for that outfit, and the unique tying is very eye-catching. Love the red flats, too :)
ReplyDeleteLove your celebratory outfit with the red scarf tied perfectly for the occasion. Brava!
ReplyDeleteI love very much the way you tied your scarf. There are many other ways to style it. Have fun playing with it :-)

ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant way to tie the scarf! The colours are so beautiful, just right for cold winter days, and lovely with the shirt and shoes!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Love it. Sorry I'm late to comment. You look striking in this outfit. I love the colors, the proportions, and the way you've tied the scarf is perfect. Did I say I loved the colors? Let me repeat, I love the colors. You look great.
