This dress is one I purchased at the Salvation Army Thrift store for $6.99. The SA thrift is a bit more expensive than Goodwill, but still quite affordable. This dress proves the adage that you should look outside your size range. Believe it or not, it is a size 10! (At least that is what the tag said.) The top is puckered with elastic thread and looks just like some of the dresses that I have seen in retail stores. The denim shirt is the same one I wore last week. It has a better fit over dresses than a denim jacket and it is much lighter weight.

I hope you will join me with the everyone else at Visible Monday on Not Dead Yet Style and Monday Mingle with Glamamom. Have a great Monday.
Cute dress, and it looks very comfortable for those insanely hot days.
ReplyDeleteVery nice, Debbi, and I am also doing a lot of maxis these days. I really like the pendant with the bright flower - so fresh and so "you". Hey Harry - looking v. handsome as ever!
ReplyDeleteWow, I love your hair. The outfit looks good but your hair looks terrific. Way to go.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I have been working on getting it the way I want it as far as the color. The style is still evolving.
DeleteDebbi, I have been buying used clothes and shoes for several months now and when it comes to clothes, I don't pay attention to size anymore. I just hold it up and know if it will work. Sizes don't mean anything really, especially if you have a nice belt to pick up the slack if it is a larger size! You look lovely in your maxi and Harry is quite dapper!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a pretty color, so summer looking. The denim shirt goes great with that! The Goodwill here is more expensive than the other thrift stores. I have 2 maxis but seldom wear them, I just feel too dressed up.
ReplyDeleteI think you have to wear them a few times to get over the feeling of being too dressed up. I felt the same at first, but now I just feel the freedom and cooler in the heat.
DeleteYou look perfect for beating the heat and your picture almost looks like a family portrait! So cute! We are now into our really hot time down here....it always hits right about school time and will probably stay with us through October...so sad...I am so ready for fall and it is so far away!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful outfit!! I love the combination of colors. And it's beastly hot here, too, so I know what you mean about staying indoors.
ReplyDeleteI need to get some colorful bracelets before they go out of style. Yours are great!
ReplyDeleteI can attest to the heat in our area! I do not even own a maxi dress...yet. And, yeah, for defying the size tag on the dress. In my area, Salvation Army is probably a bit less expensive than the Goodwill, which is curious I think.
ReplyDeleteYour maxi is very beautiful - and right on trend! I've worn my maxis on hot days too - even in Spain! They're so comfortable that I can't forgive myself for not getting some a long time ago! Harry is just so adorable! And I agree with Judy C - your hair looks great!
ReplyDeleteThat dress is gorgeous! I love the buttercup shade. Also I thought you might like to know, my MIL was passing by and saw me reading your post and she said "Isn't she beautiful!"
ReplyDeleteI've been embracing skirts more as a whole this summer. I've tried to let myself feel more comfortable in them, looking for loose full skirts instead of fitted ones. Easier to move in and feel breezy.
Sorry it's been so hot! We've been pretty lucky in New England, which is good since my house doesn't have AC! If our heat waves lasted more than 3 or 4 days, I would be positively homicidal. You look cool and collected as always, though, in your lovely dress. Cute bracelets, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm more of a maxi skirt person than maxi dress, just because skirts are more versatile for me in my current 30 for 30 for 12 wardrobe challenge.
ReplyDeleteI just love this nice yellow on you, Debbi! What a fabulous colour.
Sending you cool ocean breezes, and a big hug to handsome Harry.
111? Whoa. I will just shut up now about our cold and rainy summer.
ReplyDeleteI am totally into maxis this summer, and a denim jacket over one is my brain-fried go to.
It was in the 80s here today and I found myself thinking it was pretty comfortable. Onehundred and ten to too hot to do anything besides stay inside in nice loose outfit. All you need is a glass of iced tea in your hand.
ReplyDeleteI've been looking for a shirt like that in white. I want one heavy enough that a dark top doesn't show through.
I like how you use that denim shirt as a jacket. It works really well. Denim blue with yellow is just about my favorite color combination. I agree with Judy - I think the yellow is a good color with you hair.
ReplyDeleteI'm so into maxis this summer! You look summery and cool :) in this maxi! Such a pretty color!
ReplyDeleteIt's hot here but I shouldn't complain.... at least it's not 111 degrees! Wow! Stay cool Debbie!
This maxi looks cool on a hot day - breezy, flowy, lots of ventilation! I love it. One can never have too many maxis and I'm glad they have become so popular this summer. Your denim shirt-as-jacket is perfect.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors and print in your maxi dress. So bright, upbeat, and summery. The denim looks very nice with it too. The accessories are a perfect compliment.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, and handsome Harry....love him too.
Isn't it crazy how a maxi can be cool in hot weather? I'm totally taken with maxis to bring it on!
ReplyDeleteI also love a good maxi in the summer. I just saw one today on the sale rack at Macy's I may end up going back for. They're very hard to find in thrift stores. You always look great in yellow.
ReplyDeleteLet me know if you have any questions about the resin jewelry making. I'd be happy to help. Even better to be able to do it together but I'm a loong way from your house. ;) Wouldn't a blogger's retreat be fun?
Oh, it would be so much fun for a lot of us to get together and craft or create art! With the way technology is advancing, in a few years we can probably get together holographically. Wouldn't that be different?
DeleteYour dog has such expressive ears!
ReplyDeleteWe call them Flying Nun ears because they remind us of the cap that Sally Field wore in the Flying Nun TV series.
DeleteYou look lovely my dear! I so agree with Joni...wouldn't a bloggers retreat be fun!
ReplyDeleteLove the colorful bracelets. And thank you for the sweet comment you left.
ReplyDeleteYour heat is incredible. I don't know how people can bear that.
I love the pattern on your dress. The light yellow color looks great on you. :)

I have found my other half thanks to Seeksenior.com – Which is an effective dating site especially for people over 40.
ReplyDeleteYes, embracing maxis to the max! You look cool and lovely despite the heat. Looking forward to the transition to fall after this summer of drought.
ReplyDeleteDebbi, after having read your post and comments about the oil conditioning treatment, I had to check out your Monday post to see your hair results...fabulous! That is one thing about you, you don't BS anyone. I love your shiny hair and I have said this before but you do look great in Maxi's. Dawn suitcase vignettes xo
ReplyDeleteThis is a cute outfit and great colors on you. I'm not sure what you have done differently with your hair (combs?) but I really like the way it looks in this photo.
ReplyDeleteNow I have to check my shampoos to see if they have sulfates! (probably:[)
