Jacket: Chadwick's purchased at 1/2 of 1/2 store Maxi dress: Casual Living purchased at 1/2 of 1/2 store Sandals: Think! Julia |
I know a while back someone wrote a post about what makes you feel old and I think some said that maxi dresses made them feel old. For me, it makes me feel great and very visible. A great thing for Visible Monday.
I realized that I rather like wearing a maxi dress and like it far more than a knee length dress. I'm not sure why, I just know I feel comfortable in a long dress. Both the jacket and dress were purchased new with tags at the 1/2 of 1/2 Name Brand store. I discovered that the Casual Living company had been purchased by Chadwick's who in turn recently filed bankruptcy. My guess is that all the clothing from Casual Living was being closed out as the store doesn't seem to exist now. It is sad to me that so many well-known companies are having to file bankruptcy and close.
I don't have any photos of my accessories today because the memory card was full and my dear husband wanted to get to sleep. I wore coin jewelry with Elizabeth II on it to honor QE on her diamond jubilee. I'll try to post a separate photo of the necklace and bracelets later this week.
For you plus-size ladies, I hope to have some pictures of some new things I got from K-Mart. Yes, K-Mart, I found it hard to believe too, but I found some tops on sale that are actually stylish.
I hope you have all had a wonderful Monday. I am linking up with Visible Monday and also Monday Mingle. I certainly enjoy seeing everyone's outfits. It is kind of like my own special fashion magazine issue every Monday.
These colors are soooo pretty. And they look great paired together too. Nice print on the jacket also. You look like you're ready to kick off your sandals and walk on a tropical beach.
ReplyDeleteGreat colors on you! What a fun maxi dress. I have a maxi skirt, but I haven't graduated to a maxi dress...not yet, at least.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new computer!
Congrats on the new computer! I made the upgrade to 7 from XP, and I'll admit the transition was a little easier. Vista made my head hurt.
ReplyDeleteOmg you look so lovely in that dress! The coral color is great with the blue. I've seen a lot of cute things from K-mart on other bloggers, but I haven't been in a Kmart since I lived in Georgia (about 10+ years).
I think the economy is in such flux right now. I was both surprised and not surprised to find out Betsey Johnson was filing for bankruptcy. My only experience with their actual store was quite negative. Sneering employees refusing to acknowledge me in anyway, and all I've ever owned by the brand is a belt. I think her designs were interesting, but not enough my style to shop there.
I'm actually hoping that smaller local/indvidually owned companies will be flourishing to compete with mega-stores. I'm finding myself drawn more to shopping at smaller venues with a more personal touch.
I guess it depends on the kind of maxi dress. This particular one makes you look young and energetic. Great colour on you and fantastically combined with the bright blue.
ReplyDeletecongrats on the new computer! I know that there is always a breaking in period, but I like to think of it as the computer getting used to me! I'm working with one that is nearly 5 years old!
ReplyDeleteI love the bright colors in this outfit. They are beautiful together. Sounds like you really scored at 1/2 of 1/2, but I had not put together that all the Chadwick's stuff was due to a bankruptcy. I'm afraid that the clothing market sort of forces fast fashion onto all clothing manufacturers whether they want to operate that way or not.
That's how I feel about Visible Monday too. This colour combination is electric, that bright blue with the intense coral/pink. You look so alive in this. I love the feeling of maxis too, although I don't have many. I think it's because I don't have to worry about legs showing. It's almost like walking around naked except with a long towel around me! Ha! Very free feeling. Congratulations on your new computer setup - good luck with the rest.
ReplyDeleteDebbi, you look lovely! That coral colour is fabulous, and I love that you wore jewelry for the Queen. :)
ReplyDeleteI think long dresses are wonderful - wear it with joy!
I'm much more comfortable in a maxi dress too. Mostly because my lower legs have spider veins I'd rather hide then showcase. I love this one on you! There's a maxi dress in the window of a second hand shop down the street from me this same color. I'm dying to go try it on. Talk to you soon!
ReplyDeleteI don't have one single maxi dress, but seeing how lovely and comfortable you look in this really convinces me to get looking for one. The colours are fantastic on you!
ReplyDeleteyou look really pretty in that dress Debbie! I love the color and the printed jacket is fabulous. Congrats o your new computer!

Debbi, you look fabulous in the maxi! Maybe you favor the maxi because it's similar, a bit, in style to pants. Where as a shorter skirt, doesn't feel as long and lean as a maxi. Or I could have just TOTALLY over analyzed that! LOL Either way, it looks great on you!!! The colors work great together!
ReplyDeleteHey, congratulations on your new computer! It DOES take time to get used to a new one, no? Enjoy getting it broken in!! Big hug to you pretty lady!! ~Serene
I think you are right about the maxi being rather like pants. When I was young, I wore mini dresses that were so short I cannot believe now that I was ever brave enough to wear them! Now, I am going just the opposite.
DeleteGreat colour combo! And I agree, I absolutely love maxi skirts. I don't feel old in mine at all; I feel really up-to-date, without doing the whole mutton-dressed-as-lamb thing.
ReplyDeleteLovely, simply lovely!
ReplyDeleteI love a new PC. We'll see how long you can go before cursing IE9!
ReplyDeleteIt only took about 5 minutes. I can't find anything-why oh why do the geeks have to rearrange everything? Do they secretly sit back and laugh at us Luddites? After having worked with computer nerds for years, I am sure they do.
DeleteYou look terrific in your maxi-dress, Debbi - and the jacket is so great to top it off. Congrats on a new PC; they do take time to get cozy with, but I bet you'll love it soon. Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday, I appreciate you.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE IT!!! The color combo is amazing on you!!! I love maxi dresses, too--they cover up stuff that I don't want seen and are so cool and breezy in the summer!!
ReplyDeleteHi Debbi, I have to agree I like Monday link ups too, to see what everyone is sporting. Your maxi is great! I'm just starting to wear them this year. Can you believe it?
ReplyDeleteI love your color combination! I bought a bright blue top specifically to wear with orange but haven't done it yet. I love maxi dresses, too, but have begun to think I need to hem them all. There's always something not-quite-right about them, and I think it's that they come all the way down to my feet. They should probably stop at my ankle!
ReplyDeleteI have windows 7.
ReplyDeleteI love you in a dress. I wish I could see you in one everytime, yeahhhhhhhhhhh

Beautiful colors! Coral is one of my favorites and it looks great on you. I'm with you on maxis and can't remember not having a few to choose from in my closet. I think they feel comforting.
ReplyDeleteLove the maxi dress. You look so happy in it! Coral is so beautiful for summer. I also love how we both remember the mini where we had to bend our legs and dip to pick anything up. Did Terri's post get you going to Half of Half? (I can't remember any of your stuff being from there before.) I'll have to go in and look at the Chadwick stuff when I return to Oklahoma from my daughter's wedding.
ReplyDeleteok you look great in a dress, I love a maxi too. Great pairing with the jacket which gives the outfit wonderful structure. You look great and so glad you are doing well with your recovery from surgery. Have a wonderful day and kiss Harry, tell him Dawn said hello. dawn suitcase vignettes xo
ReplyDeleteYou are wearing one of my favorite color combos this year. I think because of my daughter's wedding being aqua and tangerine I just can't get enough of those colors. Just love, love, love and you look lovely.
