Reviews and Knee's

Before I get into my knee news, I would like to ask you all a question. Do you review products on websites? I know that I use reviews to help me decide on purchases and just today realized how valuable they are in determining whether or not to buy a product. I often review shoes on Zappos. I have wide feet and having someone write that a shoe would only work on a narrow foot helps save me the time and effort of ordering a shoe that won't work for me. It helps Zappos as well since they offer free shipping both ways, accurate reviews help buyers make better choices prior to purchase and keep product prices down. If you don't currently review products, please consider how much it helps others when you write a review.

I hope you will all forgive me for my lack of posting and commenting on blogs. I went to a specialist yesterday about my knee (which is still hurting quite a bit.) The Doctor said he thought it was a torn meniscus, which happens to be one of the most common issues people have with their knees. He sent me for an MRI, but I still haven't heard from them on the results. I was amazed at how busy the offices were with people with knee, shoulder, elbow, hip, and other issues.

With my DH unable to take outfit pictures, I just haven't gotten enthused about dragging out the dress form to fix up outfits for picture taking. Hopefully this will change soon and I can be back sharing photos.

Happy Thursday to you all!

  1. I usually review a product if it's available for review and isn't an out-of-stock/last items piece. Most of what I buy isn't straight through websites, but I do also keep track of what stuff is called, include brand names, and do reviews on my site. I get a lot of hits for sock dreams tights, Fluevog, and All Saints stuff - I'm assuming people looking for fit info and on-real-person pictures.

Ohno! I'm sorry to hear about your knee. I hope they find out what's up and it can be taken care of with minimal pain. Hope you're feeling hale and healthy soon!

  2. I find on-line reviews very useful. I've wised up a little when people start talking about sizing. People who're size 2-4 seem to always review things and mention their size, and the clothes always seem to be bigger than they'd expected. I prefer to consult the sizing charts and then decide. With shoes if someone says they run small, even if they're a dainty size 6 I take note. Sizing on shoes is more predictable.

I note people who had quality or color comments carefully.

I hope you knee improves. Maybe you're in for some PT?

  3. Oh, I hope you will not need surgery and that the pain will go away soon. I am so sorry you are hurting. In answer to your question, I do review the products I purchase when asked to...you will recognize me on Chico's...I think the reviews are very helpful and I have avoided a purchase because of them. IT also helps me to know if something fits big or small or the fabric feels gross..get better soon!!

  4. So sorry your knee is hurting, Debbi, and I am hoping for a simple resolution.

I do rely on reviews, but I must admit I'm lazy about writing them. Your post has inspired me, though, and I will start doing so. I also read the Make-Up Alley reviews before buying beauty products.

  6. Owie! so sorry to hear about your knee. Will you have to have surgery? Quite a few years ago the dr told me I had a torn meniscus and would need surgery, but for some strange reason my knee healed....I hope yours heals quickly too, with or w/o surgery.
I do not buy a lot online but if I am considering a purchase I always read the reviews. I don't review purchases tho........I should because I appreciate those who do.

  7. Oh you poor thing! I hope you get to feeling better and that it does not get too painful for you. I will not purchase unless I read most of the reviews! I depend on them! Kiah

  8. As far as reviews, in theory I think they're great. My husband is a big fan and they've proved useful. I've never bought anything where I felt I needed a review. Not sure why. I'm a little scared, thinking maybe I've been duped. Oh well.

I have a dress form too, and I think I'm going to use "her" soon to model for my blog. Hadn't thought of that!

I hope you feel better soon!!

  9. Here's hoping that the MRI reveals better news than a torn meniscus. Many years ago, I strained a knee and have been advised to strengthen thigh muscles to counteract the stress to the knee. There are still some activities I won't do to protect the knee.

I have made use of reviews, but don't purchase enough retail to have reason to write reviews.

  14. Awwwww, Debbi, so sorry you're in pain with that knee. I hope you find out the results soon and are able to get it taken care of. Sorry you're going through this though.
Reviews....I do read them. I think they're helpful. I don't buy that much online, but my husband does and he does lots of research on reviews to determine the best quality product for the best price.

  15. So sorry! My daughter had a torn lateral meniscus, and it was super painful for her! She tore it playing powder puff football! ick. She had to have surgery to repair it (the good thing is that the rehab is not so bad. Hope you feel better soon! I don't usually review products, mostly because I don't buy all that many and because I just don't have all that much time. I don't usually buy a lot on line because I'm so worried about fit and so on.

  17. Hope that your knee issue is resolved soon! I seldom write reviews, but I can see how they help others. I don't usually buy off the internet and have been shopping my closet for most of this year.
