Wednesday

My outfit for today uses a rather dressy jacket with jeans for a more casual look. The jacket is one of my favorites due to its details. The double lapel and metallic brocade fabric make it a jacket that can be dressed up or worn a bit more casual with a pair of jeans. I styled it with my black coated NYDJ. I know some brands of jeans have a wax coating, but I am not sure what these have on them to give them a subtle sheen. I tried to DIY some waxed jeans, but it was a big failure.  So, when I saw that Nordstrom online (we don't have a store here) had these in plus sizes, I ordered them tuit de suite.

Jacket: Alex Marie from Dillard's
Top: Chico's
Jeans: NYDJ Coated Skinny
Shoes: French Sole

Necklace: Carla's Love It Boutique

Bangles on left: Chico's
Bracelet on Right: Made from vintage rhinestone earrings, boutique
This jacket and the one from yesterday were purchased at the end of the season at Dillard's sidewalk sale and were around $20.00 each. I thought they were amazing bargains. Even though both were really suit jackets, I saw them as excellent pieces for a more casual look.  On What Not to Wear, Stacey and Clinton often tell participants that they can mix their business suit jackets with jeans. Do you ever wear your suit jackets with jeans?

  1. Gorgeous purples. I love the polish and the purple stoned bracelet. I love wearing suit jackets with jeans, especially dressy jeans. Denim doesn't have to mean frumpy or casual, jeans can look sleek and chic as trousers.

    1. Patti,
I am kind of ashamed to say that I have as many as I do. I have been collecting them over a period of years. Let's just say it is a lot. I am trying really hard to not buy any new ones, but they just keep calling my name and I respond.
I think that the jackets are my drug of choice. I know it is OCD for sure.

  5. This is one of my favorite outfits. The jacket is a beautiful shade of purple (so are your nails) and I think a dressy jacket paired with jeans looks great. But I am totally in love with that vintage rhinestone bracelet! Ahhhhhh, gorgeous!

  8. I think that jacket would be a bit much paired with a bottom in the same material. The pants are perfect with it.

I don't have any matched suits. If I need to dress up at work I usually wear a dress/skirt with a separates jacket. My office isn't that formal. Back in the days when I did have matched jackets/skirts I did not mix the parts with other things. It was a mental thing with me. Probably it's good I moved onto separates.

  13. I love the nails! I did not noticed your dangling necklace. I did not notice your sparking bracelets; I only notice your colorful nails. I don't know why but I think it's your nails that completes your look. :)
