A beautiful Tuesday

A couple of people asked where I purchased my leopard shoe laces. I think it was Famous Footwear, but when I went there yesterday, they did not have any in stock.
They are a fun touch on otherwise plain shoes. I also found some on ebay, but they do seem to be hard to come by.

Today was just a beautiful fall day. I have put away most of my warmer weather clothing, so I did have a challenge on what to wear on what is probably our last really warm day. Tomorrow it's supposed to be 35 degrees cooler and rainy. Well, we need the rain.

Chico's Vest (The one I cut the sleeves off)
Coldwater Creek Tee
JMS Jeggings
B Makowsky ballet flats
My necklace is one I purchased several years ago at a trunk show at a local jewelry store. I would love to find the lady who made it. Her jewelry was so unique. This piece has a turquoise bead that she said came off a vintage hat. The cord is silk handwrapped over some sort of cord. There really are three cords even though it looks like there are only 2 on one side. I just love things that are one of a kind.

I also stopped by Chico's just to see what is new. There were several things I really liked in leopard print. I restrained myself and did not buy any new jackets! There were some really cool gloves that I thought seriously about buying but talked myself out of it. They were so soft and the gray snakeskin had a bit of shimmer.

I talked to the Sales Associates about the new Chico's Black Label items. No surprise, we will not get them at the store in Wichita.  It is so frustrating that these items will be available only in larger cities. Yes, I can order them, but there is nothing like being able to see and touch the merchandise.

Tuesday - Missoni for Target release day

I was really excited having seen all the pictures of the Missoni for Target items. I went to the store early today to see the new items. What a disappointment. They did not even have the merchandise on the floor; I had to ask for it. The lady brought it right out, which was nice of her. They had very few items and only one XL in each item.  The sweaters were very thin and one had a pull in it and they were $49.99. One of the black and white dresses was pretty, but again all small sizes. The shoes were not comfortable. I was highly disappointed. The only thing I bought was an infinity scarf. It is pretty, but it was $24.99, which compared to other scarves Target has, was a bit pricey.

Jacket: Coldwater Creek
Top: Nygard - Dillards (it has tiny flowers layered on the bodice)
Jeggings: JMS Walmart
Scarf: Maurices
Shoes: Vince Camuto - Dillards

With the scarf down rather than wrapped

I tried to go to the Target site to grab a picture of the scarf, but evidently the site has been overwhelmed with activity and it wasn't up. Maybe I am too picky about what I purchase and there may be a lot of others who love it. Did anyone else visit Target today for Missoni? What did you think?

Blue Wednesday

It is another hot day and I am tired of summer. I usually love summer, even the hot days, but this year I am just worn out from the heat and humidity. My asthma has been bothering me all summer which makes me tired and just kind of blue. I just didn't put much effort into this outfit I wore when I went to lunch with my one of my best friends. We had barbeque at one of the best places in Wichita, Delano BBQ. They make the best onion rings in Wichita and maybe Kansas. I didn't eat them today as even a small order is too much for me to eat by myself.

Me and Harry

I had to add this picture of me and Harry because it was just too cute not to. He loves being in the middle of the picture taking and today he was really determined to get me to pay attention to him.

Day at home + vest

I didn't really wear the vest at home today; just the top and pants. The addition of the vest is a look that I wanted to try based on something I saw in the new InStyle magazine. It's an okay look, but I don't think I will repeat this actual outfit again. The vest is suede and has a collar which when worn with another collar over the top of it is too stiff and uncomfortable for me. I think maybe that is why I looked so stiff in the picture--I wasn't comfortable.

Tonight is the season premiere of What Not to Wear. From the previews, it looks like they are finally featuring a real plus size person. I can hardly wait to see it.  I know a couple of other bloggers are WNTW fans. I do have some mixed feelings about it. I wish they would spend more time on the what to wear rather than berating the participants bad taste.

Vest: Coldwater Creek
Blouse: Ralph Lauren
Jeans: DG2 Cargo
Shoes: Tom's burlap
When I was about 25 and weighed 75lbs less than I do now, I took ballet classes. Looking at the above photo, my foot looks like it is in a ballet pose. Funny thing is I thought I was so fat back then. Ah, to be that fat again!

Coldwater Creek - I may come back to you

In the past year or so, I lost my love for Coldwater Creek. I would go in, look around and leave--even when they had a 35% off everything sale. There was just nothing that excited me. Then yesterday, I got the newest catalog in the mail. Yes! There are things I would love to own. There is one blouse in particular that makes me drool. It is the Tucked Lace Blouse, the first photo on the left below.

All photos via ColdwaterCreek.com
I like all of the tops above. (Of course, I haven't tried on any of them, so I reserve my opinion on whether or not I would actually purchase any of them until after I try them on.) The colors and styles are really nice and could be used for work or home wear. The sweater on the far right looks like it might be a cute layering piece.

They also feature new fits on their pants, Modern, Natural, and Classic. I like pants to fit at my waist, not below. It they fit below, my muffin top bursts over--not a pretty look. I know Stacy & Clinton say that at the waist fit is "old lady", but hey, I am an old lady and if I wear my top outside my pants why does it matter?

I have a couple of issues to get off my chest:

  • First:  Stores that give you a coupon for $25.00 off a $100.00 purchase. (CC, I am talking to you.) It's a really nice thing, but if you find something you want that is $99.95, you can't use the dang coupon! Really?!, a nickel, a mere 5 cents short. If you want to use the coupon, you have to find something else to purchase.  I may not want anything else and it peeves me to have to get it just to use the coupon.
  • Now for my second pet peeve, making plus sizes $5 to $10 more than the regular sizes. I know it takes a little more fabric for the plus size, but they don't give petites or Extra Small sizes a price break! The top I like is $99.95 for 1X-3X and $89.95 for all other sizes.
There was a silver-haired model featured in this catalog. Finally, they seem to be acknowledging the fact that there are many over 50 women who purchase from them. Now, if they would just feature someone over size 0 in their ads...

Creamsicle - Orange & Pink

Yet another hot as hades day. If there were a real creamsicle involved I think it would have melted in seconds.  The top I am wearing has hot pink and orange mixed together and reminds me of a creamsicle. There is more pink in the top than the pictures show. Interestingly, I had not noticed that the front of the top has a large area of white that shows up like a bull's eye. I think that from now on, I am going to take a camera with me to buy new clothes. It is amazing to me how much shows up in a photograph that does not in the mirror.

You have seen Harry, my Airedale Terrier, before, but this is FarleyJoe's first appearance. He is my old boy. We adopted him in 2000 and I don't know how old he was when we got him. He is the sweetest boy anyone could have and is definitely a "momma's boy". He looks a bit like a well loved teddy bear. He cannot handle a day at the groomers, so I trim him myself with scissors. Blame his pitiful grooming on me. Jada, our only girl, was inside and could not be coaxed out. Smart girl. All three are rescues and are our treasures.

FarleyJoe was barking at me as was Harry until he picked up his ball.
Harry wanted to play, FarleyJoe wanted him to leave me alone.
