The song "I am Woman Hear Me Roar" has been playing in my head as I write this. For those of you born after 1973, it is a Helen Reddy song that was used as a voice of the women's lib movement. In 1973, I was told that I could not have a job because I was a woman and men could not handle a woman telling them what to do. Today, women work in fields we did not dream of in 1973. Back then, the technologies we take for granted today were the stuff of science fiction. We have the opportunity now to change how women in the future will be perceived. At least I hope we do.

You got me remembering some times when I was told that the "raises are for men with families" or "we don't make loans to single women"! Not-so-good old days.
ReplyDeleteYou look wonderful in bright blue. I do like your idea of tailoring your sleeve length, then you won't have to fool with it. Gorgeous necklace too!
Thanks for participating in Visible Monday.
If I send my address will you send the outfit when you get tired of it. I love the whole thing and you look super. By the way, I think sleeves just above the elbow are sort of aging. Just my opinion.
ReplyDeleteThat blue is a great color on you!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I can help you with the sleeve length question, but this color is very, very flattering on you. I love what you have written here--it is so true and some of the youngsters just don't realize...
ReplyDeleteHope I don't have Helen Reddy stuck in my head for the rest of the night.
You are great! I too remember those days. And, I loved that song.
ReplyDeleteI am really liking your necklace.
Nice outfit! I love the print on that top -- I have an Anne Klein print top that I adore and I'm reminded of it here. And that vintage bracelet is wonderful! You look very polished and creative here, which is always a great combo.
ReplyDeleteI was in Gulfport, MS today and found a Chico's outlet and actually thought of you, since you wear a lot of their stuff. I made a through examination of their selection of jackets and I am positive that 3/4 length sleeves are the way to go. You can always roll up a 3/4 sleeve like we did in the 60's. But once hemmed above the elbow, you are stuck with that length. Just in case you doubt the zeal with which I surveyed the store, I must admit that I came away with 4 jackets, one tank top (the cheapest item at $4.65), and a white denim jeans vest with tiny embroidery on the tips of the collar (the most expensive at $21.43). My total for all was just $83. (This did include my Birthday $10 credit.) Isn't it nice to have your readers go out and do research just for you? ;)
ReplyDeleteMy Mom does the same thing with her sleeves! Isn't it funny how we do things like that and don't even realize it! I bet Pam at over50feeling40 would have a sleeve suggestion!
ReplyDeleteHave a PRETTY day!!
Kristin
Adorable shoes! I'm a pusher when it comes to sleeves, so I try to opt for pre shortened ones when I can. I think a 3/4 would look best with a jacket.
ReplyDeleteThat song is just infectious! And I don't even like it....but now I may just be singing it all day! :) I love that color! And doesn't Chicos have the best jewelry? I love their stuff! ~Serene
ReplyDeleteI remember my Dad telling me I was "just a girl, you can't do that"! I think I've run out of things to prove him wrong. LOL I've done it all.
ReplyDelete3/4 length sleeves always look chic and polished (think Audrey Hepburn). They stop where your arms are slimmest and leave room for your bracelets to show. (And gloves) :) They are suitable for year round wear and never look out of season!
Thank you for the compliment on my gloves! I made my own pattern, after looking at several styles. The options are endless with these!

I really like what you did with this outfit. That blouse is my favorite shade of blue this summer. Great shoes too! Colorful shoes are so fun!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog and your sweet comment!
I'm a fan of 3/4 length, personally. But, sleeve length is a personal preference! I love this bright shade of blue on you. It pops!
